Take a photo of any item using your phone's camera. Our AI analyzes the image to identify the product, then searches eBay for active listings to calculate a recommended Buy It Now price. You can refine the identification on the review screen before running the price lookup.
Each price scan costs 1 credit. You get 5 free credits when you get started. Taking a photo and identifying the item is free — credits are only used when you run the pricing scan. You can add more credits anytime.
BIN stands for "Buy It Now." It's the recommended fixed price for listing your item. We calculate this by analyzing currently active listings on eBay, using a proprietary algorithm that accounts for current market conditions to give you a competitive, realistic price point. All prices include shipping costs so you see what buyers actually pay.
All pricing analysis includes shipping costs. When we pull comparable listings from eBay, we add the shipping fee to each item's price so the recommended BIN, median, and price range all reflect the true total cost to buyers. In the detailed comps view, each listing shows whether it includes free shipping or has an additional shipping fee, so you can see exactly how shipping affects pricing. This gives you a more accurate picture of what buyers are actually paying.
Scan Accuracy combines two signals that together determine how reliable a result is:
Identification confidence — how precisely XenBin recognised your item from the photo. Influenced by image clarity, visible brand names, model numbers, and how visually unambiguous the item is.
Pricing confidence — how many comparable active listings were found to support the BIN price. High means 20+ comparable listings, Medium means 10+, and Low means fewer than 10.
Both signals must be strong for a reliable price. A clearly identified item with very few comparable listings will still show lower accuracy, because there isn't enough market data to anchor the price.
Pricing Features
Pricing Strategy controls how XenBin calculates your recommended "Buy It Now" (BIN) price based on what similar items are currently listed for.
We look at the median price of comparable listings — that's the middle-of-the-road price — and then adjust it up or down depending on your chosen strategy:
Aggressive — Sets your price 20% below the median. This helps your item sell faster by undercutting most other sellers. Great for items you want to move quickly.
Standard — Sets your price 15% below the median. A balanced approach that gives you a competitive edge while keeping a healthy margin. This is the default.
Premium — Sets your price 10% above the median. Best for items in high demand, excellent condition, or when you're not in a rush to sell.
You can change your strategy anytime from the scan results screen by tapping the "Pricing" pill.
When XenBin pulls market data, some listings may be priced way too high or way too low compared to the rest. These are called "outliers" and they can throw off your recommended price if included.
Outlier Handling lets you control how aggressively XenBin filters out these unusual prices:
Strict — Removes any listing below half or above 1.5 times the median price. This gives the tightest, most conservative price range. Good when you want maximum accuracy.
Standard — Removes listings below half or above 2 times the median. A good balance that filters the worst outliers without being too restrictive. This is the default.
Loose — Only removes extreme outliers (below one-third or above 3 times the median). Useful when prices naturally vary a lot for a particular item.
Off — Includes every listing regardless of price. Use this if you want the complete, unfiltered picture of the market.
You can change this anytime from the scan results screen by tapping the "Outliers" pill.
For better identification:
Use clear, well-lit photos with the item against a plain background. Make sure brand logos, model numbers, and any printed labels are visible — text in the photo is the strongest identification signal. If a result looks wrong, use the refinement screen to add hints or correct keywords before saving.
For better pricing confidence:
Scan items with active resale markets — consumer electronics, name-brand clothing, toys, gaming, and collectibles typically have many comparable listings. Niche, handmade, or very old items often have fewer comparables, which limits pricing confidence regardless of how clearly they're identified.
If confidence is Low:
Check that the item condition is clearly visible in the photo, since sold prices vary significantly by condition. You can also adjust your Pricing Strategy setting to be more conservative when working with lower-confidence results, or verify the BIN manually against current sold listings before publishing.
Yes. Every completed scan is automatically saved to your account. You can find all your scan history in the Scan History section from the menu. Items are kept for 30 days by default. If you want to keep an item permanently, tap "Keep Forever" on its listing and it will never expire. Re-scanning the same item resets its 30-day timer. All scan history is stored in your XenBin account and sync across any device you sign in on.
Yes — XenBin is actively evolving. Some features such as Sell-Through Rate and Real Sold Comps are currently in development and will be released in future updates. You'll see these marked as "Coming Soon" throughout the app.
Xen Mastery is your personal progression system inside XenBin. It tracks your growth, consistency, and scanning skill over time. As you scan more items and improve your accuracy, you unlock new milestones, levels, and sometimes credit rewards.
Tiers represent your overall mastery level. You move through the tier ladder as you scan more items with good accuracy. Each new tier marks a major step in your progress and may come with special recognition or rewards.
A streak counts how many days in a row you've scanned at least one item. The longer your streak, the more recognition you earn. Missing a day resets your streak, but your other progress stays safe.
Xen Paths track different types of mastery, such as accuracy, confidence, and category exploration. Each path has levels and milestones you can unlock. Leveling up a path improves your overall Xen Mastery and helps you see where you're strongest.
XenBin automatically groups your scans into categories like Tools, Electronics, Home Goods, and more. Exploring more categories increases your mastery and helps you understand what you scan most often.
Seasons are time‑limited themes that may appear in the future. They can include special goals, challenges, and rewards. Seasons are not always active, but when they are, you'll see them clearly on your dashboard and in Xen Mastery.
Sometimes. Certain major milestones and tier promotions may award credits as a bonus for meaningful progress. Not every level or achievement gives credits, but when they do, they're added to your balance automatically.
Credits are awarded for major milestones such as reaching a new tier or completing a significant mastery goal. These rewards typically grant 5 credits per qualifying milestone. Smaller level‑ups still count toward your growth, even if they don't include credits. Credit rewards earned through Xen Mastery may change at any time.
To keep the system fair and sustainable, credits are focused on the most meaningful milestones. This helps credits stay valuable and ensures that when you earn them, it feels like a real win. You'll always see your credit balance update when a reward is granted.
Credits let you scan more items without needing to purchase additional packs. They're the main currency in XenBin and the primary way we reward your effort, consistency, and mastery.
Xen Mastery notifications appear when you hit a major milestone, such as a tier promotion, streak milestone, or path level‑up. They're quick highlights of your progress and help you stay motivated.
Only major milestones trigger Xen Mastery notifications. Smaller progress updates still count toward your goals, even if they don't generate a notification.
Your streak resets, but your tiers, path levels, and category progress do not. You can pick up right where you left off and start building a new streak.
No — tiers and path levels never reset. Only streaks reset when you miss a day.
Scan consistently, aim for high‑confidence scans, and explore new categories. These actions help you progress through tiers, streaks, and paths more quickly and increase your chances of hitting credit‑earning milestones.
